Talking Wellness offers private counselling/therapy with the aim to help you find better ways to understand yourself, or to bring about changes.

Counselling isn’t just about mental health, it’s for people that experience all kinds of difficulties that impact on their well being and happiness. We can all face issues around anxiety, relationships, stress, overwhelm, burnout, loss and bereavement. In counselling, you can explore, gain deeper insight and work on making changes. People regularly feedback that they find it easy to talk and get a sense of feeling 'lighter' and 'positive' right from first making contact.
I am BACP Accredited (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy), accreditation is a quality level that recognises the achievement of high standards of knowledge, experience and development in counselling and psychotherapy.
I have a range of experience working with, but not limited to, generalised anxiety disorder, feeling sad, low mood, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, depression, bereavement and loss, assertiveness, sleep problems, self confidence. I am also a specialist in issues of eating and weight/shape distress.

Jo Rice Counselling and Psychotherapy

Hi I’m Jo. I’m a BACP registered counsellor/psychotherapist working in private practice at the Atkins Building. I offer a warm, compassionate therapeutic space where you can explore the issues causing you concern. I will help you to gain a greater understanding of yourself and the difficulties you are facing, empowering you to move forwards.
I use a mainly person-centred approach, but also draw upon other theoretical models in response to individual needs. At the heart of my practice is a belief in the importance of the client-counsellor relationship and the ability of each individual to overcome their challenges.
I work with adults and young people who are experiencing a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss and difficulties around relationships. I have a particular interest in trauma and addiction, having worked and trained in a drug and alcohol service.
I am committed to helping my clients move towards their desired goals and believe passionately that the therapeutic relationship can help you to begin to live a more fulfilled life.

A day at Atkins Building Co-working (08:30-17:00) costs £27.60 (£23+VAT) and this includes a large desk, office chair, laptop riser, mouse, mouse mat, Wi-Fi, access to a printer and photocopier, break out areas, kitchen and toilet facilities. There is also a coffee inclusion version where you can order two hot drinks of your choice from the onsite Hansom Café for £34.80 (£29+VAT). Half day options with or without coffee are available as well.

Located in the Grade II listed Atkins Building, both offices and ceremony room have been restored to a high standard.

Vehicle parking is provided at the rear of the building for one bridal car on the day of your ceremony and a bespoke courtyard garden has been created at the back of Atkins where happy couples can have their photographs taken at no extra cost. An alternative photograph location is available at Hinckley & District Museum in the garden of the 17th century thatched cottages located opposite Atkins Building by pre arrangement. Children’s Hospital School (Phoenix Learning Centre)

The Children’s Hospital School supports young people who are too ill to attend their normal school. We teach children who are inpatients in hospital and those who attend one of our three alternative provision schools. The ‘Phoenix Learning Centre’ based in the Atkins building provides short-term placements for young people unable to attend school due to mental health and anxiety, after which we support a transition back to school.

The Hansom Café can be found within the Atkins Art Gallery alongside another element of Hinckley’s rich heritage, a fully and beautifully restored Hansom Cab.

The café is spacious, family friendly with indoor and outdoor seating available.

All our food is cooked fresh to order and our chips are hand cut and double cooked.

Also available are party and business meeting food platters to take away or to be served if you are using the meeting rooms at Atkins Building.
